A Few Major Realizations

[The backdrop to the following is the fact that Scorpio and I did not make it past the fourth date for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being the realization that I am not ready to move on from Il Divino quite yet.]

*Desire is the root of all suffering. (So obvious, but what makes this so fundamentally difficult to comprehend?)

*Karma is extremely complicated. (Apologies for stating the obvious, but see above.)

*If there is something in your past from which you have not moved on, then you need to recognize that no matter how uncomfortable that admission might be, and then recognize the need to work through that rather than simply fooling yourself into think you have moved on.

*You can sweep emotional debris under the proverbial rug, but there comes a point when you just can't ignore the pile mounting underneath anymore.

*Cultivating an open heart for others means nothing if you aren't cultivating a heart that is open to yourself.

*If you aren't comfortable with being alone, then you're just trying to avoid something in always being together with another person.

*Discomfort in being alone manifests itself in all sorts of strange and seemingly-innocuous ways. Recognizing those ways might just be the first step towards sitting with yourself despite the discomfort.

*There comes a point when you just need to sit down, grow up, and recognize your own personal demons; only then can you figure out what tools you need to battle them properly.

WoYoPracMo log:
Jan. 11: 15 minutes exhale-longer-than-inhale pranayama in Supta Baddha Konasana.
Jan. 12: Really no practice to speak of, unless you count the fact that I assisted in another person's time in a restorative version of Supta Baddha Konasana.
Jan. 13: 60 minutes in Hillary's Yoga Practice Podcast #53 on Forearm Balance, and a meditation round on the mala.
