Myth #2: Not enough time

Myth-busting week at Yogademia! We'll be unpacking the top 5 five myths about work-life balance, and offering practical solutions to combat them.

Work-Life Balance Myth #2:
There just aren't enough hours in the day.

With everything you do and all the things you are interested in, it might feel like 24 hours just aren't enough for you for you to do everything you want to do in a day. To combat that, we need to change the way we think first in order to change the way we act.

Solution:
There is exactly enough time for what is important.
Storypeople - Enough Time

When I first read this, it was like a lightning flash of Zen enlightenment - electric and dynamic. I got goosebumps and my head tingled, the air around me felt charged and full of static. The power of this belief lies in its simplicity: there is exactly enough time for what is important.

The issue is not the number of hours in a day. It is the relative amount and quality of time you give to what you yourself believe to be most important, versus the time spent on unimportant or less important things. Are you devoting time to the things that are important to you?

But how do you determine what is important?
In this three-part exercise, you will look at your level of satisfaction in eight different areas of your life and to rank your priorities. Ultimately you'll be asked to compare your internal prioritization, your real-life prioritization, and your relative satisfaction with each area. It might seem like just a numbers game, but your balance depends on those simple numbers. If you mark an area low on the balance wheel and low in the satisfaction list, but then rank it high on the priority list, this tells you that you need to spend more time on that area.

This exercise sets you up for the unveiling of the #1 Work-Life Balance Myth on Monday. Take the time this weekend to do this exercise, which sets yourself up for Monday's exercise that draws on the realizations and rankings from this exercise. Monday's work-life balance myth is the most powerful of all these five myths, and needs some preparation.
